The premier practical tapping game for Garmin watches.
Tap fast, don’t miss
Open Quick Play. Tap twice on cardboard, once on circles or squares, and leave crossed No-taps alone.
TapStage is a quick tapping game inspired by practical shooting. It tests reaction time, accuracy and how well you keep the two together when the targets start moving.
Go fast and accuracy suffers. Take too long and your time does.
Compare your tapping accuracy in the global leaderboards and work towards becoming a grand-tapper.
Your tapfactor is your points divided by your time. So you have to be accurate and fast to become a grand-tapper.
Install TapStage from Connect IQ. In version 0.10.0, choose Ranked → Link watch → Open on phone. Confirm the prefilled code and save your recovery code. The watch checks the link automatically.
THE RULES
Speed and accuracy
Double targets: tap twice. Centre A = 5 points, C = 3, outer D = 1 per tap. Aim for the smaller centre zone.
Single targets: one tap, 5 points. Some activate a moving target.
No-taps: white target-shaped obstacles. Each tap on one costs 10 points. When a No-tap appears alone, wait for it to disappear (DON’T TAP)
Misses: tapping empty space or a non-scoring border costs 5 points. Extra taps on completed targets score zero.
Finish every target: scoring targets need their required taps before the stage advances. Your net points cannot go below zero.
Factor: net points ÷ elapsed seconds. Match factor uses all match points divided by total stage time; (it is not an average of stage factors).
Moving targets, overlaps and No-taps test your control. Local target size and shape can be changed in Settings. Ranked mode uses fixed target conditions and one leaderboard for all supported watches during beta.
Half targets can be cut horizontally or vertically. They keep the full target’s scale and scoring zones and require two taps on the remaining cardboard. Empty space is a miss.
01 / PRACTICE
Train your tapping skills
Quick Play starts a short stage. Practice offers short, medium, long or custom stages, with a new layout or an exact retry. A short interactive introduction teaches the targets. Local achievements mark clean stages, clean matches and a complete set of classifiers.
02 / LOCAL MATCH
Test your practical tapping skills in a match
Choose 3, 6 or 12 stages (short, medium and long match). Only one attempt per stage is allowed. See your whole-match factor and review each stage afterward.
03 / RANKED
Compare your tapping skills against other tappers.
BETA! Link your watch and play “ranked” to get your results on the global leaderboard. Play a three-stage daily match, a six-stage weekly match, or five fixed classifiers. Daily and weekly matches mix short, medium and long stages. Weekly matches close Monday at 00:00 UTC, including all of Sunday. The beta will be used to determine tap factor for different ranks (with the goal of becoming the grand tapper). This mode is in development, but you can help by providing feedback, reporting bugs or any suggestions that would make the gameplay better.
Create a single-stage challenge or a three-stage match on your watch. Send the invitation link yourself. Once your friend accepts, you both have 48 hours and one scored attempt.
Both watches receive identical targets and rules. Results stay between the two players, and your friend's score is revealed after both runs are verified. Want another go? Create a rematch.
Requires TapStage 0.10.0 or later on both watches. Public beta; store availability depends on Garmin review.
FAIR PLAY, DURING BETA
Speed, accuracy… but also fairness.
The server calculates Ranked points from the course and recorded taps. Each challenge works once. Version checks, timing checks and pattern checks help catch ordinary manipulation.
Some runs may be held for review. This does not prove cheating; contact us if a legitimate run is affected. Local matches are available even when Ranked is paused.
BUILT WITH BETA TAPPERS
Help define Grand-Tapper.
Classifier levels are provisional. Verified results across all five Ranked classifiers will help us set levels from D-Tapper through Grand-Tapper. We need at least 100 complete player sets before proposing thresholds, followed by a review.
We plan to preserve an optional, frozen beta leaderboard as a thank-you to testers. You choose whether your nickname and best results are included. You can change your mind later.
Touchscreen Garmin watches in TapStage’s compatible-device list. Screen shapes and sizes vary; verified boards currently combine all supported watches. Check the Connect IQ listing linked above for your exact model. This public beta tests compatibility, touch behaviour and readability across different watch models and screen sizes. Performance and layout may vary. Inclusion in the beta does not guarantee continued support or compatibility with the final paid release. The supported-device list may change, and a model may be restricted or removed if testing reveals limitations.
Can I use Large targets?
Yes, in local matches and practice. Ranked uses standard Octagon targets and enabled movers. Local settings do not change a Ranked course.
Do I need an account or a phone?
Local play doesn’t need an online profile (nor internet). Ranked needs an internet connection through Garmin’s supported connection, and a pseudonymous profile linked with an eight-character code. We do not ask for your public Garmin identity or email address. Online play uses a nickname and the game data described in the privacy policy.
Will the beta always be free?
No. This is a public beta for testing. TapStage will become a paid app after testing is complete. Future pricing has not been set. Beta boards may be reset, and archived results will not grant an advantage in later rankings.
What information is uploaded?
Ranked uploads the challenge, app version, watch model, screen times and tap coordinates/times needed to verify the run. It does not upload your local practice history, any health data or location. Read the Haptic-Pulse privacy policy.
About the public beta
TapStage is free during testing and will become a paid app after testing is complete. Beta scores and leaderboards may be reset. Pricing and the release date will be announced before the change. Please help by testing the app and providing feedback on any bugs, improvements, fairness or any other improvements to gameplay.
This public beta tests compatibility, touch behaviour and readability across different watch models and screen sizes. Performance and layout may therefore vary. Inclusion in the beta does not guarantee continued support or compatibility with the final paid release. The supported-device list may change, and a watch model may be restricted or removed if testing reveals limitations.
